Tips for Planning Your Wall Poster
Measure Twice
Always measure your wall carefully before starting. Account for any obstacles like light switches, outlets, or furniture that might affect poster placement.
Choose the Right Paper Size
A4 is the most common choice for home printers. If you have access to an A3 printer, you can cut the number of sheets in half — fewer pages means fewer seams and faster assembly.
Consider Viewing Distance
For hallways and small rooms, use a finer halftone grid (5-8mm). For large living room walls viewed from a distance, a coarser grid (10-15mm) creates a bolder effect.
Add Overlap for Seamless Results
When printing, enable the overlap option in Rasterbator. This adds a small repeated strip at the edge of each page, making it much easier to align sheets perfectly during assembly.

How many sheets of A4 do I need for a 2-meter wide poster?▼
For a 2m x 1.2m poster using A4 portrait with 10mm margins, you need approximately 11 x 5 = 55 sheets. Use the calculator above for exact numbers based on your specific dimensions.
Can I mix paper sizes in one poster?▼
We recommend using a single paper size for consistency. Mixing sizes makes alignment much harder and can result in visible seams.
What is the maximum poster size I can make?▼
There is no practical limit. Rasterbator supports posters up to 20 meters wide. The wall planner will calculate the sheets needed for any size you enter.
